The rehabilitation team of professionals at the Brown County Hospital is dedicated to returning you to your full functional activities in the shortest possible time. Our programs are individually tailored to meet your specific needs.
Our Rehabilitation Team includes professionals from Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy.
Our Rehabilitation Services boast a state-of-the-art facility. The department has over 2,300 square feet with a large gym area, an office, private treatment rooms, wound care room and a handicap-accessible restroom. We have several exercise machines and equipment including a treadmill which incorporates reverse and downhill walking, a Free Motion bilateral upper and lower extremity strengthening unit, Airforce bicycle ergometer, two Nustep trainers, electric parallel bars, BOSU dome and Pro Fitter units for dynamic balance training and more. We also provide aquatic therapy services off site.
Physical Therapy
Physical therapy treats a large range of problems from neck and back pain to sports injuries. Our therapists help patients recover from: recent surgery, auto accidents, balance and walking problems, generalized weakness or specific weakness, work injuries, urinary incontinence and joint problems. We also complete lower extremity biomechanical evaluations and custom orthotic fitting, as well as a wide variety of wound care. Our therapists are also trained in various techniques to reduce pain and improve functional mobility such as kinesio-taping and ASTYM.
We also offer Functional Dry Needling for the treatment of muscle injuries and chronic pain, as well as LSVT BIG for the rehabilitation of Parkinson’s disease.
On your initial visit to physical therapy, you will be evaluated by a licensed physical therapist. Your plan of care will be specially tailored for your particular problem and we will follow directives as written by your doctor. Also a home program and clinical visits will be scheduled to meet your needs in the quickest, most efficient manner.
Occupational Therapy
Occupational therapy works with any problem or disability which impairs a person’s ability to function in day-to-day activities. These problems include self-cares such as getting dressed, returning to a job, or performing leisure activities. An occupational therapist is able to evaluate wheelchair needs, perform home safety evaluations, and treat a variety of upper extremity impairments such as fractures, nerve compressions, tendon injuries, and various post-operative diagnoses. We also offer Breast Cancer Rehabilitation for those who are going through or have been through chemotherapy, radiation, have had a mastectomy and/or lumpectomy. Individualized programs for occupations therapy patients will be designed by a licensed occupational therapist.
Speech Therapy
Speech pathologists provide evaluations treatment of language, cognitive speech, voice and swallowing problems. Patients are evaluated by a licensed Speech Pathologist through the Brown County Hospital. Scheduling for Speech Therapy is done personally by the Speech Therapist, they will call you to set up appointment times.
Rehabilitation services are covered by Medicare, Medicaid, essentially all private insurance and worker’s compensation. Call your insurance provider for specific plan information.
